LasikPlus - A
Brief History
When
talking of
LasikPlus, one of the top lasik providers in America, it is good to
also know a brief history of the company. The company has been around
since 1991, and has been providing exemplary service to people across
America. LasikPus is a brand that is currently owned by LCA-Vision. How
the brand came about is a story worth going into.
The predecessor to LCA-Vision was Laser Centers of America, Inc. That
was a company that was started off by Dr. Stephen N. Joffe in 1985. In
those days he was a practicing general surgeon and also professor at
The University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He started the company
with a view to help hospitals in switching over to and implementing the
latest advancements in surgical techniques as well as technology.
LCA-Vision offered their professional expertise to medical centers and
hospitals across the US, aiding them in managing the minimum invasive
as well as laser surgery programs, two emerging techniques in those
times. LasikPlus was a culmination of all these endeavors.
In 1995, right after the FDA approved the refractive eye surgery
technique called photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), LCA-Vision opened
its first vision correction center to use laser technology in
Cincinnati, its corporate headquarters. LasikPlus was still a long time
in the making, but these were steps that were gradually building up to
that development. The company started trading on NASDAQ in 1996, and in
this year the number of centers swelled to 15, thereby making it the
largest fixed-site laser vision correction chains in America.
The move to include Laser-assisted in situ Keratomileusis or Lasik came
about, surprisingly only in 1997; all this while the primary procedure
used was PRK. Now lasik became the procedure of choice for vision
correction procedures, and finally in 1998, the name LasikPlus was
first introduced in the center at Baltimore. This name quickly became
the brand name, partly due to the success seen at the Baltimore center
post the name-change. That success has seen the chain expand far and
wide, now with the company claiming a presence within a one-hour drive
from 40 percent of the country’s population.
Besides factors like the skill and experience of the surgeons, the
professionalism of the staff, and the leading edge technology, another
factor that has contributed to the popularity of the company is the
cost factor. The company has a number of different innovative schemes
that make payment an easy option for the patient. The company provides
patients with multiple payment options. At LasikPlus, a patient can
choose from a range of payment plans – No Interest till 2008,
100% Financing, $300 Down to Lower Monthly Payments, 6 Months No
Payments, 0% Interest , etc. The company also has provides options for
FSA and HSA users. Another good thing about the payment plans at
LasikPlus is they involve fixed amounts, and do not require any
pre-payment penalties.
At LasikPlus, you not only get the best in eye care, but the best
payment options as well, which makes it an all-round winner for you.
